Ever wonder what sleep actually is? Like, why do we get sleepy at night and not in the morning? Why is it so painful to wake up in the middle of the night? Falling asleep is just the first part of a cycle of sleep states we go through every night. Each stage of sleep has it’s own characteristics. Sleep is an integral part of neurological health. Getting enough sleep is paramount to good brain function in everyday life. And like so many things neuro, what sounds straightforward is actually wonderfully complex!
